A brief written on me:

Ayse Kazancigil Doler offer us a style not designed before. No art historian or critic would be able to classify her style. If you’ll take note, the style is the artists electric approach. The artist trained on traditional Turkish art such as illumination and miniature has built her works on two dimensional art. There is no Western perspective on the pieces. The artists training and personal inclinations have steered her towards a two-dimensional traditional Asian format. The artist, having a broad vision on traditional cultural arts appears to have been influenced by Asian or even Oceanian works.

Turkish, Chinese, Nepalese, Tibettan, Japanese, Mongolian, South-East Asian, Australian and Aborigines influences are present in her works.

Indian, Mongolian and Turkish miniatures on wood and even Buddhist manuscripts wink at us in these pieces of art. Her style, done with patience and meticulousness,  built on Asian two-dimensional art style, captivates the audience by drawing its energy from this Asian style art.

Of course, our impressions are not limited to Asia. The artist, coming from a secular family and having a western education, with her free spirit and courage, creates a starry-eyed imprint in her works in the Western sense.

Her being starry-eyed also arises from her free spiritedness, her courage her independence as well as her training in modern art techniques.

Her starry-eyed elements are also formed by her lawless distortion a corruption, mixing of symmetry, sometimes reaching to a level of absurdity. Her talent is her ability to be able to create works of spontaneity. The artist goes where her mind takes her, embarking on the journey with her pens and paints, without any pre-meditation.  When she grabs the pencil, you ask her what she will create and she replies ‘’I don’t know, we’ll see’’!!

In this regard, when she grabs the pencil, she exits our conception of an Asian artist and enters the Western realm. Thus, she synthesizes a mixture of courageous Western soul with eastern energy.

Ayse Kazancigil Doler, appears to want to blend the whole work and its cultures in her choice of color. To her, no color or tone must go to waste…Colors and details serve as the shadow of her soul. Her love for detail can be explained through her style which displays a congregation of pencils and pastels.

The results show that no matter where you are from, you will see something familiar to you in this artists works.
